Dupe Makinde is the Founder and Executive Director of Daylight Academy. With a passion to empower and inspire people and give them the opportunity to succeed in life, she set up Daylight Academy to provide the training and skills needed to help individuals become responsible members of society, improve their lives and fulfill their potential.
Dupe believes that everyone has the ability to realise their potential and achieve their dreams if they believe in themselves, regardless of their background. She has been working with young people, women and parents for over ten years and also as the founder and coordinator of the Girlz Empowered and Boyz Excel youth groups in South London.
Girlz Empowered and Boyz Excel equip and empower teenage girls and boys to make the successful transition from childhood to adulthood. It is an opportunity for them to talk and ask questions about any challenges they are facing. The group runs regular workshops that focus on dealing with the practical issues teenagers face on a day-to-day basis. The workshops also help young people identify and develop the skills they need to progress successfully in all areas of their lives.
Dupe’s is available for speaking engagements and delivering workshops on the subject areas of youth, personal development and effective parenting. She has an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate and references are available on request.
Responsibility for Daylight Academy currently lies with the Board of Directors, consisting of 5 members.
Daylight Academy currently has members of staff that have substantial experience in personal/community development and education. We welcome volunteers and students, and believe that they can gain valuable experience and skills through work based placement at Daylight. We also promote continuous training, learning and development.
